Embrace Guitars - Dennis Slavens, luthierI
n 1967 my older brother Mike brought me the pieces of a guitar he had attempted to build, handed them to me and said “here, you do it.” I finished it without knowing anything about guitar building. It was useful for batting rocks into the canyon behind my house. But I was hooked and tried again. I connected with Sam Gladding who mentored many would be luthiers. Sam and others helped me improve and I built and sold about 6 guitars. Marriage and children came along and the need for a real job. Guitar building took a back seat for thirty years. Seven years ago my wife, Adrienne, said she knew that it was my dream to build guitars, “We have the money, buy what you need and go for it.” So I set up a shop and started building again. It has been nonstop since that day. I build one at a time and stay fully focused so that I am invested in each guitar I build. I use only the best grades of wood and other materials. My guitars have excellent tone, volume and sustain. My goal is not financial, it is my desire to produce fine instruments that will be enjoyed for generations. For that reason my price range is at the bottom of the industry. Custom work, inlay etc. available by quote.
